Our Philosophy

One Day at a Time.
New Every Morning.

Bridging the critical gap in recovery — where the wisdom of the rooms and the words of God speak with one voice, on two guided paths: Christian and Islamic.

Step One Begins Here

What We Believe

A strong base fosters resilience, accountability, and healthy coping strategies, helping individuals navigate challenges and prevent relapse. By focusing on self-awareness, supportive relationships, and positive habits, those in recovery can create a stable environment that nurtures healing and empowers lasting change. Every resident walks one of two guided paths — Christian or Islamic — chosen by him, honoured by all of us.

Came. Came to. Came to believe. — the oldest journey in the rooms, and the oldest journey of faith.

Pillar One

Foundation

Before anything can be rebuilt, a stable base must be laid: stability, structure, routine, and safety — the anchoring that holds when the storms come.

The rooms say“First things first.”
The Word says“A wise man built his house on the rock.”Matthew 7:24
The Quran says“Then is one who laid the foundation of his building on righteousness from Allah… better…?”Quran 9:109

Pillar Two

12-Step

Designed to support individuals on their journey to recovery and personal growth. This evidence-based approach fosters accountability, community, and self-reflection — walked on the Christian path through the fellowship of the rooms, and on the Islamic path through the Millati Islami tradition of Tawbah, Muhasabah, and Tawakkul.

The rooms say“It works if you work it.”
The Word says“Confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed.”James 5:16
The Quran says“Do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins.”Quran 39:53

Pillar Three

Personal Responsibility

We believe individuals who want recovery must take charge of their healing journey. By acknowledging their role in the recovery process, individuals cultivate self-awareness, accountability, and decision-making skills that are essential for lasting change — paving the way to a more fulfilling life.

The rooms say“Progress, not perfection.”
The Word says“Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the Lord.”Lamentations 3:40
The Quran says“Indeed, Allah will not change the condition of a people until they change what is in themselves.”Quran 13:11

Pillar Four

Mindfulness

Mindfulness helps individuals manage stress, reduce anxiety, and enhance emotional regulation. By fostering awareness and presence, mindfulness promotes self-compassion and resilience — crucial for healing from addiction, trauma, or mental health challenges. On the Christian path the pause is filled with prayer and scripture; on the Islamic path with Salah and Dhikr.

The rooms say“Easy does it.”
The Word says“Be still, and know that I am God.”Psalm 46:10
The Quran says“Verily, in the remembrance of Allah do hearts find rest.”Quran 13:28

Pillar Five

Organic Healing

At our center, we promote organic healing by empowering individuals to overcome addiction through good nutrition, healthy habits, regular exercise, and internal growth. Our holistic approach focuses on nourishing the mind, body, and spirit — fostering sustainable recovery without reliance on substances.

The rooms say“Keep it simple.”
The Word says“I will restore you to health and heal your wounds.”Jeremiah 30:17
The Quran says“And We send down of the Quran that which is healing and mercy for the believers.”Quran 17:82

Pillar Six

Physical Activity

Sport improves cardiovascular health, builds strength, and fosters teamwork and discipline, while gym workouts build strength and endurance. Yoga cultivates flexibility, balance, and mindfulness — reducing stress and enhancing mental clarity. Embracing a variety of physical activity empowers individuals to lead healthier, more balanced lives.

The rooms say“Faith without works is dead.”
The Word says“Your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit… therefore honor God with your bodies.”1 Corinthians 6:19–20
The Sunnah says“Your body has a right over you.”Hadith — Sahih al-Bukhari

Where the Rooms and the Words of God Meet

The Serenity Prayer

Spoken at the close of meetings the world over — and prayed at Horizon every day, by men of both paths.

“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”

Reinhold Niebuhr — The Serenity Prayer
